CSR and Private Key Generation Has Never Been Easier
When it comes to the whole SSL process, generation of Certificate Signing Request (CSR) is one of the most crucial steps involved. Essentially, it is an application through which you get the SSL ball rolling. You must make sure every detail you enter is 100% correct, just like you would for your passport.
We can't stress enough the significance of the CSR generation process. To make this process easier, we have created a tool that can help you generate a CSR within minutes, in your browser. Now you don't need to waste your time entering every detail via console commands on your web server. All you need to do is enter the details in your web browser and voila!!
Let's get going
To create an SSL certificate, you must have a generated a CSR file first. Our CSR Generation tool allows you to generate CSR for free. Just follow below steps and our tool will take care of the rest.
- First, enter the correct information in the boxes below. Enter legally registered details of your organization if you want to purchase OV or EV SSL certificate. It is fine if you use your personal name for DV SSL certificates.
- Once your CSR is generated, simply Copy & Paste the CSR into a text editor (i.e. Notepad) and save it as csr.txt. You will need this file once you order your SSL certificate.
- Now here is a very crucial step. The second code you see generated below is your Private Key. Copy & Paste the Private Key into a text editor (i.e. Notepad) the same way you did for CSR. Save it in a safe place and DO NOT share it with anyone, DO NOT.
Note: If required, you can always rename these files in the future.
Note: A Wildcard SSL certificate ensures the security of your website's Sub-Domains. In order to accomplish this, the format of the common name in your Certificate Signing Request (CSR) would be "*.domain.com" instead of only "domain.com." Please keep this in mind while generating a CSR for a wildcard certificate.
